4th Grade School Objects Lesson Plan

Topic: This lesson is on school objects.

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify and name at least 10 school objects.
  • Students will be able to describe the functions of at least 5 school objects.

Materials

  • Picture cards of school objects (pen, pencil, pencil case, bag, desk, chair, ruler, etc.)
  • List of school object names
  • Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

  • Have students sit in a circle.
  • Place a school object card in the middle of the circle and have one student pick it up and whisper the name of the object to another student, who then passes it to another student. The goal is to reach the last student without making a mistake.

Direct Instruction

  • Show the students the school object cards and have them repeat the names.
  • Discuss the purpose of each object and how it is used in school.

Guided Practice

  • Divide the students into pairs and give each pair a set of the school object cards.
  • Have the students take turns holding up a card and saying the name.
  • Have the other student repeat the name and then explain the purpose of the object.

Independent Practice

  • Have the students work in small groups to create a short skit or -presentation about life in school.
  • Have the students use the school object cards to represent different -objects and actions in their skit or presentation.
  • Allow the students to practice their skit or presentation several times before presenting to the class.

Closure

  • Review the different school objects introduced during the lesson. -Ask the students to share one thing they learned about school objects.

Assessment

  • Observe the students during the independent practice activity and provide feedback on their object labels. -Collect the students' object labels and use them to assess their understanding of school objects. -Provide additional support and guidance as needed.
