Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to manage files and folders in Windows 10 using the task bar, live tiles, start button, icons, and windows.

Materials

• Windows 10 computers
• Short pencils or fine-tip markers
• Paper

Warm-up

• Ask students to think about how they manage files and folders on their computers at home. What tools do they use? How do they move between files and folders?
• Write their responses on the paper.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of files and folders and explain how they are used to organize information on a computer.
• Show students how to open and close files and folders on the windows 10 task bar.
• Demonstrate how to move between files and folders using the live tiles feature on the start screen.
• Explain the difference between icons and shortcuts and how to use them to access files and folders.

Guided Practice

• Have students open a file or folder on their own computer and use the task bar, live tiles and start screen to move between files and folders.
• Assist students as needed and ask questions to ensure understanding.

Independent Practice
