4th Grade More On Paint 3D Lesson Plan (Computer)

Topic: Paint 3D

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to create a 3D object using Paint 3D.
  • Students will be able to view and manipulate their 3D object using different 3D views.

Materials

  • Microsoft Surface or compatible device
  • Paint 3D app
  • 3D object model (optional)

Warm-up

  • Have students draw a simple 3D object, such as a cube or sphere, on a piece of paper.
  • Ask students to share their drawings and explain how they think they could create a 3D version of their object using Paint 3D.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of 3D objects and explain that they can be created in Paint 3D using a tool called the 3D library.
  • Show students how to open the 3D library and select a 3D shape to add to their canvas.
  • Explain the different types of 3D shapes available in the 3D library and give examples of how they can be used to create more complex objects.
  • Show students how to manipulate the dimensions and position of a 3D shape on the canvas to create a 3D object.
  • Explain how to use the history tool to undo or redo actions in Paint 3D.
  • Show students how to add stickers and textures to their 3D objects.
  • Introduce the history tool and explain how it can be used to undo or redo actions in Paint 3D.

Guided Practice

  • Have students open a blank canvas in Paint 3D and use the 3D library to add a 3D shape to the canvas.
  • Have students manipulate the dimensions and position of the 3D shape to create a 3D object.
  • Have students add a sticker or texture to their 3D object.

Independent Practice

  • Have students choose a subject to create a 3D text portrait of, such as a person, animal, or object.
  • Have students use the History tool to undo their previous changes and experiment with moving and rotating the 3D text to create different effects.
  • Have students create a 3D text portrait of their chosen subject.

Closure

  • Have students share their 3D text portraits with the class.
  • Review the types of 3D shapes that were used in the 3D text portraits and discuss the effects of using different 3D shapes.
  • Ask students to reflect on their experience creating 3D text and what they learned about using Paint 3D.

Assessment

  • Observe students as they work to create 3D text and offer feedback.
  • Have students submit their completed 3D text portraits for review.
  • Use the guided questions and independent practice to assess students' understanding of creating 3D text and using Paint 3D.
