Topic: Navigating around an airport. Important areas at an airport.

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to navigate around an airport and identify the important areas of the airport.

Materials

• Drawing of an airport
• Markers or crayons

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever been to an airport.
• Ask them to share their experience at the airport.
• Ask them to name the important areas at the airport.

Direct Instruction

• Show the students a map of an airport.
• Point out the areas such as the check-in area, the security area, the departure area, and the arrival area.
• Explain the purpose of each area and how it is used.
• For example, the check-in area is where passengers check in and get their boarding passes.
• The security area is where passengers go through security checks.
• The departure area is where passengers wait to board their flights.
• The arrival area is where passengers wait to be reunited with their loved ones after arriving.

Guided Practice

• Show the students a picture of a typical check-in desk at an airport.
• Ask the students what they see and what the purpose of the check-in desk is.
• Have the students work in pairs to complete a worksheet that asks them to identify important features of the check-in desk and its purpose.

Independent Practice

• Ask the students to choose one airport that they have visited in the past or that is near to where they live.
• Have the students research the airport and create a poster that demonstrates their understanding of the important areas and facilities at the airport.
• Encourage the students to include details such as layout and location of the areas, as well as any interesting facts they have discovered.

Closure

• Have the students share their posters with the class.
• Ask the students to summarize the key points they have learned about navigating around an airport and the important areas and facilities at an airport.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice activity and provide feedback on their understanding of the key points about navigating around an airport and the important areas and facilities at an airport.
