Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Pictures of a ball game announcer at a baseball game
• Chart paper and markers
• Construction paper and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students what they know about baseball.
• Write their answers on the chart paper.
• Ask students if they know what a ball game announcer does at a baseball game.
• Write their answers on the chart paper.

Direct Instruction

• Explain that a ball game announcer is a person who provides commentary on a baseball game.
• Tell students that the announcer provides information about the game, such as the score, and also tries to entertain the audience.
• Explain that the announcer must know a lot about baseball, including the rules and the players.
• Ask students if they have any questions about what a ball game announcer does.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups.
• Give each group a piece of paper and a pen.
• Ask each group to brainstorm a list of things a ball game announcer would say during a baseball game.
• Have each group share their list with the class.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a piece of paper and a pen.
• Ask students to draw a picture of themselves as a ball game announcer.
