Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • Pen and paper for each student
  • Images or videos that demonstrate the importance of respecting others (optional)

Warm-up

  • Ask the students if they have ever had someone disrespect them or treat them poorly.
  • Ask them to share their experiences and what happened.
  • Ask the students if they have ever disrespected someone else or treated them poorly.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the topic of social learning and how it relates to respecting others.
  • Share the examples of respectful and disrespectful behavior that were brainstormed during the warm-up.
  • Have the students repeat the examples after you to ensure they understand the concepts.

Guided Practice

  • Divide the students into pairs and give each pair a set of cards with respectful and disrespectful behavior examples on them.
  • Have the students take turns picking a card and acting out the behavior on the card while their partner offers feedback on the behavior's level of respect or disrespect.
  • Encourage the students to use appropriate body language and voice tone while mimicking the behavior.

Independent Practice

  • Divide the students into small groups and give each group a copy of the social behavior chart.
  • Have the students work together to fill in the chart with examples of respectful and disrespectful behavior.
  • Encourage the students to use -appropriate body language and voice tone while discussing the behaviors.

Closure

  • Ask the students to share one thing they learned about respecting others during the lesson.
  • Remind the students that it is important to treat others with respect so that we can have happy and -productive interactions.

Assessment:

  • Observe the students during the role-plays and independent practice to assess their understanding of the concept of respect.
  • Collect the students' written responses and use them to assess their understanding of the concept of respect.
