Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to distinguish between renewable and non renewable resources and explain the importance of each.

Materials

• Information posters about renewable and non renewable resources
• Colored pencils or markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they know what renewable and non renewable resources are.
• Ask for example of each.

Direct Instruction

• Show the students the information posters about renewable and non renewable resources.
• Ask students to read the information on the posters and take notes.
• After reading, ask students to sort the resources into the appropriate categories (renewable and non renewable).

Guided Practice:

• Have students work in small groups to sort the resources into the correct categories.
• As a class, discuss the reasons for each sort and any differences in the types of resources.

Independent Practice:

• Have students create their own information posters about a specific renewable or non renewable resource.
