Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify and name the parts of plants and their functions.
• Students will be able to explain how environmental conditions such as temperature and moisture affect plants.

Materials

• Pictures or real specimens of various plants (e.g. tree, grass, flower)
• Chart paper or whiteboard and markers
• Index cards and markers or construction paper and crayons

Warm-up

• Show students pictures or real specimens of various plants and ask them to identify the parts of the plants they see. Write the names on the chart paper or whiteboard.
• As a class, discuss the functions of the parts of plants that were identified.

Direct Instruction

• Review the names of the parts of plants that were identified during the warm-up activity.
• Show students pictures or real specimens of various plants and ask them to identify the parts of the plants they see. Write the names on the chart paper or whiteboard.

Guided Practice

• Divide students into small groups and give each group a set of plant specimens or pictures.
