Topic: Paul and the Holy Spirit

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to explain how the Holy Spirit played a role in the life of Paul and how his message and actions were influenced by this relationship.

Materials

  • Images of Paul and scenes from his life
  • A box of Lego or other building blocks
  • A large piece of paper and markers

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they have heard of Paul and his message.
  • Ask them to share what they know about him.
  • As a class, write his name on the paper and draw a picture of him next to it.
  • Ask if anyone knows what the Holy Spirit is and if anyone has felt its presence in their life.

Direct Instruction

  • Explain that the Holy Spirit is a member of the Trinity and that it is a gift that God gives to us to help us live our lives.

  • Have them discuss how the Holy Spirit is present in the passage and how it is helping Paul through the experiences he is describing.
  • Have them list the different ways in which the Holy Spirit is present and how it is helping Paul.
  • Have them discuss some of the advice that Paul gives in the passage, and how it is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Independent Practice

  • Have students choose one of Paul's letters to study in more detail.
  • Have them research some of the people and events mentioned in the letter, and find Scripture passages that support what Paul writes.
  • Have them write a short report on what they have learned, including some examples of how the Holy Spirit is present in the letter and how it is helping Paul.

  • As a class, review the main points of the lesson and discuss any new insights or understandings that students have gained about Paul and the Holy Spirit.
