Topic: Addition of numbers up to 10

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to add numbers up to 10 using the touch points on the numbers.

Materials

• Blackboard and chalk
• Number cards with touch points marked (0-9)
• Arrays of the numbers 0-9 for students to practice with (optional)

Warm-up

• Review the concept of place value and the counting sequence up to 10.
• Have students practice counting to 10 and saying the number names aloud.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of touch points and how they can be used to find the sum of two numbers.
• Demonstrate how to find the sum of two numbers by touching the corresponding touch points on the numbers.
• Have students practice finding the sum of pairs of numbers using touch points.

Guided Practice
