Topic: What do you want to buy?

Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to ask for specific items from the grocery store in Arabic.

Materials

• Pictures of common grocery store items (e.g. fruits, vegetables, groceries, drinks)
• Frame cards with the Arabic words for the items
• Pen and paper for each student

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they have ever gone to the grocery store with their family.
• Ask them to share what they usually buy at the grocery store.
• Write the common items on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Ask the students if they know how to say "I want to buy ____" in Arabic.
• If they do, write the phrase on the board. If not, demonstrate how to say it.
• Ask the students to repeat the phrase after you.
• Ask the students to brainstorm a list of items they want to buy from the grocery store.
• Have them write the items on a piece of paper or on the board.
• Emphasize the Arabic names for the items and make sure the students can read and pronounce them correctly.

Guided Practice

• Using the list of items the students brainstormed, ask them to say "I want to buy ___(

) from the grocery store." -Have them repeat this sentence several times.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a blank list and have them fill in the missing items. -Have them say "I want to buy ____() from the grocery store." as they point to each item on their list.
• Let each student present their list to the class and have the other students guess what they want to buy.

Closure

• Review the vocabulary words that were learned during the lesson.
• Ask the students if they have any questions about what they learned.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice activity and provide feedback on their understanding of the vocabulary words and their ability to write a story about a grocery store.
