Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

Warm-up

• Show the students a few examples of texts with clear structure and ask them to identify the different parts (introduction, body and conclusion).

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of text structure, explaining that it refers to the way a text is organized.
• Discuss the different parts of a text (introduction, body and conclusion) and explain their role in organizing the information in the text.
• Provide some examples of texts with clear structure and ask the students to identify the different parts.

Guided Practice

• Provide the students with a text and ask them to identify the different parts of the text and explain their role in organizing the information.
• Have the students work in pairs to complete a text structure worksheet, providing guidance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have the students choose a topic of their own and write a short text on it, following the model of the example texts provided.
