Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to describe the four seasons and their characteristics, and understand the relationship between the seasons and the changing weather.

Materials

• Images of different seasons (e.g. images of winter snow, spring flowers, summer sun, autumn leaves)
• Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

• Show the students the images of different seasons and ask them to identify which season each image represents.
• Encourage the students to use adjectives to describe the different seasons, such as hot, cold, wet, dry, etc.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of the four seasons and explain that they are a natural part of the year.
• Show the students the images of the different seasons again and ask them to identify which season each image represents.
• Encourage the students to use adjectives to describe the different seasons, such as hot, cold, wet, dry, etc.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups and give each group a set of adjectives.
• Have the students use the adjectives to create a poem about the seasons, using the poem structure:Start -Adjective -Adjective -Adjective -Adjective -End.
• Have the students share their poems with the class and discuss the different characteristics of the seasons that they have written about.

Independent Practice

• Have the students choose one of the four seasons and create a poster or presentation about it.
• Have the students present their posters or presentations to the class.

Closure

• Review the four seasons and their characteristics.
• Ask the students to share their favorite season and why.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice activity and make sure that they can correctly name the four seasons and their characteristics.
• Check the students' posters or presentations to see if they have correctly identified the characteristics of each season.
