Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Informational texts (e.g., articles, videos, etc.)
• Pen and paper for each student

Warm-up

• Ask students to share a time when they heard someone communicating with a different tone, mode, or purpose than they normally use.
• Discuss what made them notice the change and how it might have affected the way the message was received.

Direct Instruction
