Topic: Creating a Workout

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to create their own workout routines based on their personal fitness goals.

Materials

  • Cardboard boxes
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Poster board or cardstock
  • String or yarn
  • Calendar

Warm-up

  • Have students stretch and do some light calisthenics to get their bodies moving and their blood flowing.
  • Ask them to think about their fitness goals and what they want to achieve by working out.
  • Introduce the concept of creating a workout routine and give an example of a simple workout.

Direct Instruction

  • Explain that a workout is a planned series of physical activities and exercises that are done to improve fitness and health.

  • Have the students share their completed workout routines with the class and discuss any challenges they faced and how they were able to overcome them.

Assessment

  • Observe the students during their independent practice and provide feedback on their ability to create a simple yet effective workout routine.
  • Have the students complete a worksheet where they draw a picture of their completed workout routine and discuss the importance of regular physical activity.
