Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to play simple melodies with correct rhythm and notation.

Materials

• Keyboards or other instruments capable of playing notes
• Simple melodies written in note-based rhythm notation
• Music stand or other device for holding the music sheets
• Audio recordings of the melodies (optional)

Warm-up

• Review rhythmic notation for quarter notes and eighth notes.
• Play a simple melody with the students and ask them to clap along with the beat.
