Topic: Overview of the flute instrument

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will understand the basic parts of a flute and how they work together to produce sound.

Materials

  • Flutes
  • Drawing paper
  • Pencils

Warm-up

  • Have the students sit in a circle.
  • Hold up a flute and ask the students if they have ever seen a flute before.
  • Ask them to share what they remember about the flute.
  • Write down their responses on the drawing paper.
  • Review the responses and explain any misconceptions.

Direct Instruction

  • Show the students a picture of a flute and explain what it is.
