Topic: Telling the time to 5 minutes

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to tell the time to 5 minutes with accuracy and confidence.

Materials

• Clock or watch with a second hand
• Clock or watch with a minute hand
• cards with different time phrases (e.g. "It's 10 o'clock," "It's quarter past three," "It's half past nine," etc.)

Warm-up

• Review the different ways of telling the time (e.g. "It's 10 o'clock," "It's quarter past three," "It's half past nine," etc.).
• Ask the students to tell the time to the class using different time phrases.
• If the students make a mistake, provide correction and encouragement.

Direct Instruction
