Students will be able to understand that standard units allow us to have a common language to measure and describe objects and events.
Students will understand that standard units allow us to have a common language to measure and describe objects and events and that while estimation is a strategy that can be applied for approximate measurements, particular tools allow us to measure and describe attributes of objects and events with more accuracy. They will also develop this understanding in relation to measurement involving length, mass, capacity, money, temperature, and time.
Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s.

2.4C Solve one-step and multi-step word problems involving addition and subtraction within 1,000 using a variety of strategies based on place value, including algorithms
2.4A Recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 with automaticity
revision exercise on odd, even, ordinal, cardinal numbers, halving, doubling, addition, subtraction.
Recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 automaticity. Students begin with basic fact strategies and spiral practice which continues through the year to develop automaticity. Students will be able to explain the difference between odd and even numbers and will use place value to determine 10 more and 10 less than a number. Students will discover patterns in odd and even numbers through pairing of objects and determine if the number can be paired without leftovers. Students should use manipulatives to determine if a number is odd or even up to 40. If there are not any leftovers, the number is even. If the number has leftovers, the number is odd. Students should be led to find patterns in numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 to be considered even numbers. Numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are considered odd numbers.
