Topic: The Founding Fathers

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will understand the roles of the Founding Fathers in the creation of the United States.

Materials

• Pictures of the Founding Fathers
• Texts about the Founding Fathers
• Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they know what the Founding Fathers were.
• Write their answers on the board.
• Ask students if they know why the Founding Fathers were important.
• Write their answers on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Show students pictures of the Founding Fathers and have them identify each one.
• Ask students to share any information they know about each founding father.
• As a class, write down their information on the board.

Guided Practice:

• Divide the class into small groups and have them work together to create a timeline of the lives of the Founding Fathers.
• Provide materials such as markers, paper, and glue to assist in the creation of the timeline.
• As a class, display the timelines on the wall or read them aloud as a class.

Independent Practice:

• Have students choose one of the Founding Fathers to research in depth.
• Provide resources such as books, websites, and printable materials to assist in the research.
• Have students create a project representing their research, such as a poster, presentation, or written report.

Closure

• Have students share their projects with the class.
