  • Pencils
  • Paper
  • List of words with long vowels (can be provided by the teacher or generated by the students by scanning the text they are reading)

Warm-up

  • Write the following words on the board: cat, hat, beg, bag, mat
  • Ask the students to read the words aloud, but this time, stretch out the vowel sound in each word (cat________, hat________, beg________, bag________, mat________)
  • Ask the students if they notice any difference in how they pronounce the words this time compared to before.
