Topic: Cleaning materials

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify different types of cleaning materials and know how to use them properly.

Materials

  • Toy kitchen
  • Toy dishes
  • Toy food
  • Various cleaning materials (e.g. rag, dish soap, water, etc.)

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they have ever helped to clean up their home.
  • Discuss with students the different materials that they use to clean.
  • Encourage students to share their experiences and tips on how to clean up efficiently.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the topic of cleaning materials and explain that there are many different materials that can be used to clean.
  • Show students some examples of cleaning materials such as sponges, brushes, cloths, and wiping agents.
  • Discuss the purpose of each material and how it can be used to clean different surfaces. For example, sponges are good for cleaning surfaces that are hard to reach, brushes are good for cleaning surfaces with small crevices, and cloths are good for cleaning surfaces that need to be dried immediately.

Guided Practice

  • Divide students into small groups and give each group a set of cleaning materials.
  • Have the students experiment with the materials and see how they can be used to clean a specific surface. Encourage the students to ask questions and discuss their findings.
  • For example, a group could use the sponge to clean a countertop, the brush to clean a furniture surface, and the cloth to dry the surface.
