Topic: Introduction to basic computer hardware (monitor, keyboard, mouse)

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify and name the different hardwares of a computer.
• Students will be able to demonstrate proper usage of the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Materials

• Computer with monitor, keyboard, and mouse
• Drawing paper and crayons or markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever used a computer before.
• Ask them to share what they remember about the hardware of the computer, such as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Direct Instruction

• Show students the different hardwares of a computer, such as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
• Explain the functions of each hardware, such as the monitor for displaying information, the keyboard for inputting information, and the mouse for controlling the cursor on the screen.
• Demonstrate how to use each hardware properly, such as how to sit properly in front of the monitor, how to hold the mouse properly, and how to type on the keyboard.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in pairs and practice using the different hardwares of a computer.
• The teacher can circulate and assist students as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students create a "How-to-Use-the-Computers" poster that shows the steps for using the different hardwares of a computer.
• Students can use drawings and captions to communicate the steps.

Closure

• Review the steps for using different hardwares of a computer.
• Ask students to share their "How-to-Use-the-Computers" posters with the class.

Assessment

• Observe students during the independent practice activity and provide feedback.
• Collect and review the "How-to-Use-the-Computers" posters for understanding of the steps and accuracy.
