Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify the object with beginning sound of m, s, or a.

Materials

• Pictures of objects with beginning sounds of m, s, or a (e.g. mail, scissors, apple)
• Blank cards with students' names on them

Warm-up

• Review the letter sound of m, s, and a with the students. Ask them to name the object that starts with the letter sound.
• As a class, make a list of the objects on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the new letters to the students. Show them the letters and say their names and phonic sounds.
• Have the students repeat the name and sound of the letters after you.
• Have the students practice writing the letters on the board. Make sure to provide proper guidance and supervision when using the markers.

Guided Practice
