Singing Voice Lesson Plan for 1st Grade Example Students

Topic:Singing voice

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to demonstrate their singing voice by producing a clear and loud sound.
• Students will be able to recognize different parts of the body that are used to produce sound during singing.

Materials

• Pictures of the different parts of the body (e.g. head, mouth, throat, chest)
• Song lyrics or lyrics to a lullaby
• Musical instruments (optional)

Warm-Up

• Have students lie on their backs and stretch their arms above their heads. Ask them totic their fingers to the beat of a song.
• Have students sit cross-legged and circle their thumbs and forefingers together to form a circle. Ask them to sing along to the circle-song.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of singing and explain that it is a way of using our voice to make music.
• Demonstrate how to use the vocal chords to create sound and sing a simple song, such as "Mary Had a Little Lamb".
• Show the students how to use their diaphragm to breathe in and out while singing, and how to use their mouth and throat to create different sounds.

Guided Practice

• Have the students take turns singing the song while the teacher helps with technique.
• Encourage the students to use their diaphragm to breathe in and out while singing, and to use their mouth and throat to create different sounds.
• Have the students practice singing the song with a partner.

Independent Practice

• Have the students create a class song by adding their own verses to the original song.
• Encourage the students to use their diaphragm to breathe in and out while singing, and to use their mouth and throat to create different sounds.
• Have the students practice their class song with a partner.

Closure

• Have the students share their favorite part of the class song and explain why they liked it.
• Review the proper technique for singing using the diaphragm and throat.

Assessment: Observe the students during the singing lessons and provide feedback on their technique.

• Ask the students to demonstrate their singing voice during the closure.
