Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • Music to play
  • Faces sheets or other materials for students to practice making different expressions

Warm-Up

  • Review the different vocal ranges and ask students to call out which one they think they can reach the highest/lowest/loudest/softest.
  • Have students stretch their voices and try singing a song in a low voice, then a high voice.
  • Ask students to act out different emotions, such as happy, sad, scared, surprised, and have them act out what they think the expression would look like.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of different vocal ranges and the names of the different voices (high, low, soft, loud).
  • Demonstrate the different voices and have students repeat after you.
  • Play a song and have students try singing it in different voices.
