Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to count and identify numbers up to 20.

Materials

  • Pictures of objects that represent each number (e.g. one apple, two oranges, three bananas, etc.)
  • Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

  • Ask students to stand up and stretch their bodies. Then, have them count out loud as they tap their own bodies (e.g. "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten").
  • Next, have students count in pairs, with one student counting out loud while the other one tries to guess the number.

Direct Instruction

  • Show students the number cards from 1 to 20.

  • Review the numbers 11 to 20 and their count words again.
