Topic: The Hand Movements in Chinese Language

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify and correctly perform the five basic hand movements in Chinese language

Materials

  • Chart with the five basic hand movements in Chinese language (?????????) written on it
  • Pencils and paper for each student

Warm-up

  • Show the students the chart with the five basic hand movements in Chinese language and ask them to look at it carefully.
  • Ask the students if they can recognize any of the hand movements from their everyday life.
  • Encourage the students to practice the hand movements with the teacher.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the five basic hand movements in Chinese language to the students and explain their meanings.
  • Demonstrate each hand movement and have the students imitate the movements.
  • Ask the students to repeat the hand movements after you.

Guided Practice

  • Provide the students with flashcards with the Chinese characters for each of the five basic hand movements.
