Topic: Water is the most valuable resource we have -- how can we take care of it?

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to understand the importance of water and its need for protection.

Materials

• Pictures of water sources (e.g. tap water, natural spring water, rain)
• Construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Pencils or pens

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they know what water is and where it comes from.
• Display the pictures of water sources and ask the students if they have ever seen or been to any of these places.
• Ask the students if they know how water is protected and how it is made clean for us to use.

Direct Instruction

• Explain that water is the most valuable resource that we have and we need to take care of it.
• Discuss the importance of protecting water sources and keeping them clean.
• Show the students the pictures of proper waste disposal and explain how important it is to not litter or waste water.

Guided Practice

• Have the students work in pairs to draw a picture of a water source in their community and identify what they can do to protect it.
• Have the students share their drawings and ideas with the class.

Independent Practice

• Have the students create a mural or poster that shows how they can protect their local water source.
• Encourage the students to be creative and use their own ideas.

Closure

• Ask the students to share their posters or murals with the class.
• Ask the students to explain why they chose the images they used and what they mean.
• Remind the students that it is important to protect our water sources so we can continue to use them.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the poster or mural creation process to assess their understanding of the concept of water conservation.
• Review the posters or murals and evaluate the students' ability to communicate their understanding of water conservation.
• Ask a few students to share their posters or murals and collect feedback from the class on their understanding of water conservation.
