Topic: Subject Pronouns

Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and use the subject pronouns in a sentence.

Materials

• flashcards with the subject pronouns "I, you, he, she, it, we, they"
• sentence stems such as "I like...", "You are...", "She is...", etc.

Warm-up

• Ask the student to give examples of people or things that they know.
• Have them use the sentence stems to make simple sentences, such as "I like to swim", "You are my friend", "She is my sister".
• Ask the student if they can name the person or thing that they are talking about in each sentence.
• Encourage them to use the subject pronouns "I, you, he, she, it, we, they".

Direct Instruction

• Review the subject pronouns and their uses.
• Demonstrate how to use the subject pronouns in a simple sentence. For example: "I like to swim."
• Have the student repeat the sentence with the subject pronouns.
• Ask the student to repeat the sentence with the subject pronouns several times, encouraging them to use the correct pronoun.

Guided Practice

• Have the student work with a partner to create their own simple sentences using the subject pronouns.
• Have the student practice repeating the sentences with the correct pronouns.

Independent Practice

• Have the student create a poster or presentation to teach their classmates about subject pronouns.
• Have the student present their lesson to the class.

Closure

• Review the different forms of subject pronouns and their uses.
• Ask the students to share something they learned about subject pronouns today.

Assessment

• Observe students during the sorting and practice activities to assess their understanding of subject pronouns.
• Use a feedback form to collect and reflect on students' answers on the subject pronoun quiz.
