Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Writing paper
• Pencils
• Set of english alphabet flash cards

Warm-up

• Review the english alphabet with the students. Ask them to call out the names of the letters as they are shown on the flash cards.
• Encourage the students to use their fingers to trace the letters as they are being called out.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the letters "a" and "b" to the students. Show them on the flash cards and have the students repeat the names of the letters.
• Have the students practice writing the letters on their scratch paper. Encourage them to use proper letter formation, including capitalization and proper spacing.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into pairs and give each pair a set of flash cards with the letters "a" and "b" on them.
• Have the students take turns showing a flash card to their partner and having them identify the letter and say its name.
• Encourage the students to help each other with letter recognition and identification.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a piece of paper with the letters "a" and "b" drawn on it.
