Topic: Alphabets from letter A to letter E

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify the sounds of the letters A, B, C, D and E.
• Students will be able to write the letters A, B, C, D and E.

Materials:

• Alphabets cards with the letters A, B, C, D and E on them
• Pencils
• Paper

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they know what alphabets are.
• Ask the students to name the letters they already know.
• Have the students recite the alphabets they know.
• Encourage the students to share their ideas and suggestions with their peers.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the letters A to E to the students.
• Show the students the corresponding alphabet cards and have them identify the letters.
• Demonstrate how to pronounce each letter and its corresponding sound.
• Ask the students to repeat after you the sounds of each letter.
• Review the alphabets with the students and make sure they understand the sounds of each letter.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into pairs and give each pair an alphabet book.
• Demonstrate how to use the book by reading one page to the class.
• Ask the students to follow along with you and help them if they struggle with any letters.
• After finishing the page, have the students turn to the next page and repeat the process.
• Continue with the rest of the alphabet books.

Independent Practice

• Give each student an alphabet book and have them work through the pages independently.
• Encourage the students to name the letters and words they see and to attempt to sounding out any letters they do not know.

Closure

• Have the students share any letters or words they found particularly interesting or challenging.
• Review the sounds for each letter and remind the students how to sound out words.

Assessment

• Observe the students during independent practice to see if they are able to identify the letters and words correctly.
• Have the students complete a worksheet or quiz where they must sound out words and write the words using the proper letters.
