Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify and name different shapes.
• Students will be able to identify and describe the role of shape in artworks.

Materials

• Pictures of different shapes (e.g. triangle, circle, square, rectangle)
• Artworks with a focus on shape (e.g. a Picasso painting, a Van Gogh painting, a Matisse drawing)
• Handouts with questions about shape

Warm-up

• Show the students a picture of a shape and ask them to name the shape they see.
• Continue with a series of pictures with different shapes, allowing the students to practice naming the shapes they see.
