Objectives & Outcomes

#Students will understand the concept of branding and marketing and its importance in business.

#Students will be able to create a brand identity for a fictitious company using powerbi.

Materials

• Powerbi subscription
• computer with powerbi installed
• branding and marketing materials (e.g. guidelines, templates, examples)

Warm-up:

• Begin the lesson by posing a question to the students: "What is branding and marketing?" Give the students a few minutes to respond and gather ideas.
• After a few minutes, take a quick poll and ask for a show of hands for who can give a brief description of branding and marketing.

Direct Instruction:

• Provide a brief overview of branding and marketing, explaining that these are key concepts in business and marketing.
• Discuss the importance of data and analytics in branding and marketing, and how they can be used to make key decisions and understand consumer behavior.
• Introduce Power BI as a tool for data visualization and analysis, and demonstrate some of its key features and capabilities.
• Walk through a simple data analytics exercise using Power BI, such as creating a report or visualizing data.

Guided Practice:

• Divide the students into small groups and provide them with a marketing-related dataset.
• Have them use Power BI to analyze the data and answer a specific question or solve a problem, such as identifying key trends or predicting future behavior.
• Allow time for each group to present their findings and discuss their analysis.

Independent Practice:

• Provide each student with a different dataset and have them use Power BI to analyze and present their findings.
• Encourage students to be creative and think critically about how they are using the data and what they are learning.

Closure

• Have students share their projects with the class and discuss what they learned.
• Review the key concepts covered in the lesson, including the different tools and visualization options in Power BI.

Assessment

• Evaluate students' project reports and presentations on the basis of their understanding of the material covered in the lesson.
• Ask students to explain the purpose of the different visualizations they created and the rationale behind their choices.
