Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • Examples of films from various genres and eras
  • Handouts with guiding questions related to each example
  • Projector or screen for the handouts and films

Warm-up

  • Have students take out a piece of paper and a pen.
  • Ask them to brainstorm a list of things they think they know about film studies.
  • After a few minutes, have them share their lists with a partner.
  • After a few minutes, have a small group of students share their lists with the class.

Direct Instruction

  • Define film studies and explain what it is.

  • Observe students during the microteach and give feedback on their ability to address the misconceptions.
  • Have students complete a written reflection on what they have learned and their thoughts on the misconceptions.
