Warm-up

• Ask the students if they are familiar with audio editing software such as audacity or garage band.

Objective 1-To show the students the basic layout of fl studio and its main features

Direct Instruction

• Open fl studio and show the students the main window and its various components.
• Explain the various functionalities of each component, such as the piano roll, the mixer, the effects panel, the MIDI editor, the playlist, etc.
• Demonstrate how to create a new project, how to import audio and MIDI tracks, how to use the various tools and effects, how to edit and manipulate audio and MIDI, how to mix and export the project.
• Show the students some useful keyboard shortcuts for fl studio (e.g. ctrl+n to create a new project, ctrl+s to save the project, ctrl+q to quit the program).
• If possible, have the students try out some of the features and tools demonstrated.

Guided Practice

• Have the students work in pairs and follow the instructions given by the teacher to create a simple project in fl studio (e.g. create a project with a single audio track and a single MIDI track, add a few effects to the audio track, create a simple melody in the MIDI editor, mix and export the project).
• During the process, the teacher can circulate among the pairs to assist and provide guidance if needed.

Independent Practice

• Have the students work on a project of their choice in fl studio (e.g. create a song from scratch, create a remix, create a sample pack, create a simple synthesizer patch).
• Encourage the students to be creative and experiment with different features of fl studio.

• Have the students share their finished projects with the class.

• Ask the students to reflect on their experience using fl studio and what they learned.
