Topic: Causes and calssifffication of cerebral palsy

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify the causes and calssifffication of cerebral palsy.

Materials

• Slide show or other materials describing cerebral palsy and its calssifffication
• Whiteboard or blackboard and markers
• Handouts with information on the different causes of cerebral palsy

Warm-up

• Have students stretch their bodies and do some light physical activity to get their bodies and minds ready for the lesson.
• Ask students to share what they already know about cerebral palsy. Write their answers on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Begin by explaining that cerebral palsy is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, resulting in impaired muscle function and movement.
• Discuss the various causes of cerebral palsy, including infections in utero, complications during birth, and head injuries.
• Discuss the different types of cerebral palsy, including spastic, dyskinetic, and ataxic.
• Show photos or videos of patients with cerebral palsy to help students visualize the condition.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and give each group a handout with information about cerebral palsy.
• Have the groups work together to create a outline of the presentation, including key facts andof the different types of cerebral palsy.

Independent Practice

• Have each group present their information to the class.

Closure

• Ask each student to summarize the main points of their group's presentation.
• Discuss any remaining questions or concerns that students may have.
