Topic: i possessivi

Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to describe i possessivi in Italian.

Materials

• Copies of the Italian sentences used in the lesson
• Pencils and paper for each student

Warm-up

• Ask students to brainstorm a list of things that can be possessed in Italian, such as "computer," "house," "car," etc.
• Discuss the list as a class and explain that in Italian, we use the i possessivi to indicate who owns or has something (e.g. il computer = the computer, la casa = the house, il motorino = the scooter).
• Ask students if they know how to form the i possessivi in Italian.

Direct Instruction

• Review the structure of the i possessivi in Italian (i + possessive pronoun + noun).
• Give examples of how to use the i possessivi in sentences, such as "il mio computer" = "my computer" and "la sua casa" = "her/his/your (formal) house."
