Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to describe various jobs in the Tourism industry.

Materials

• Handout with descriptions of various jobs in Tourism
• Pictures or videos of actual people performing the jobs
• Writing materials (pen/paper)

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever traveled to a different country or place for vacation.
• Ask them to share their experience and what they did while they were there.
• Ask them if they know what jobs are involved in making travel and tourism arrangements.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of tourism and its importance to the economy.
• Describe the various jobs involved in planning and managing travel and tourism, including tour guides, travel agents, and hotel managers.
• Explain the responsibilities and requirements of each job.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups and give each group a piece of paper and a pen or pencil.
• Ask the students to brainstorm a list of jobs in tourism that they think exist.
• Have the students share their lists with the class and discuss any differences or similarities.
• Have the students choose one job from their brainstorming list that they are interested in learning more about and explain why.
• Have the students write a short paragraph describing the job and its responsibilities.

• Have the students share their posters or presentations with the class.
• Discuss the different jobs in tourism and the requirements and challenges associated with each one.
• Ask the students to think about which job they would like to pursue in the future and why.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice activity and make note of their understanding of the different jobs in tourism and their requirements and challenges.
• Collect the students' posters or presentations and use the information contained within them to assess their understanding of the topic.
