      Objectives & Outcomes

      Materials

      • Pictures of water (e.g. ocean, lake, rain, snow)
      • Question prompt (e.g. "What is water?")

      Warm-up

      • Ask the students if they have ever seen or been near water. Allow them to share their experiences.

      Show the pictures of water and ask the students to identify what each picture is.

        Direct Instruction

        • Introduce the word "water" and explain that it is a substance that is found all over the world and is necessary for life.
        • Ask the students to repeat the word "water" several times.
        • Show the pictures again and ask the students to name what each picture is.

        Guided Practice

        • Ask the students to raise their hands if they need to use the bathroom.
        • Have the students who raised their hands walk to the bathroom and return to their desks.
        • Ask the students if they noticed a sink or water fountain in the bathroom.
        • If yes, ask the students what it is used for.
        • If no, ask the students what they think it is used for.
        • Continue with the same procedure for the toilet.
        • Ask the students to raise their hands if they have ever used a water fountain or a sink.
        • Have the students who raised their hands tell the class what they use the water fountain or the sink for.
        • If no one has raised their hand, ask the students what they think the water fountain or the sink is used for.

        Independent Practice

        • Have the students work in pairs or groups to create a skit or a short play about using a water fountain or a sink.
        • Encourage the students to use their voice and body language to communicate their ideas.
        • Allow the students to practice their skit or play in front of the class.

        Closure

        • Review the important points about using water fountains and sinks.
        • Ask the students to give their own examples and words of caution when using these facilities.

        Assessment

        • Observe the class during the independent practice activity and provide feedback on their use of words and phrases when giving instructions and warnings about using the water fountain and sink.
