Materials

  • Handouts with vocabulary and phrases for self-introduction and networking
  • Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

  • Ask students to think of a time when they had to introduce themselves to someone new. Have them share their experiences with the class and discuss the challenges they faced.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concepts of self-introduction and networking. Explain that self-introduction is the process of introducing yourself to someone new and networking is the process of building connections and relationships with other people.

Guided Practice

  • Have students work in pairs. Have one student introduce themselves to their partner using the phrases and vocabulary introduced in the class. Have the other student provide feedback and suggestions on how the first student can improve their self-introduction.
  • Switch pairs and repeat the activity.

Independent Practice

  • Have students work in small groups (3-4 students per group). Have each group come up with a project or idea that they can work on together. Have each group introduce themselves and their project to the class.

Closure

  • Review the importance of self-introductions and networking in business. Ask students to reflect on their own introductions and discuss what they learned from the activity. How can they use these skills in real life business situations?

Assessment:

  • Observe students during the self-introduction and networking activities and provide feedback. Collect and grade the business cards students created as a form of assessment. Use a rubric to evaluate the quality of their self-introduction and their ability to network with the other participants.
