Dragonpreneur: Unleashing Authenticity Lesson Plan for 12th Grade Students

Topic: Unleashing Authenticity

Objectives & Outcomes

• Understand what it means to be authentic in the business world and how to live authentically.
• Learn how to unleash your inner dragon and find your authentic place in the business world.

Materials

• Handout with definitions and examples of authenticity in the business world
• Sticky notes
• Writing materials (pen/pencil or laptop)

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever felt uncomfortable or inauthentic in a work or school setting.
• Have them share their experiences and what made them feel that way.
• Ask them if they have ever felt truly authentic in a work or school setting.
• Have them share their experiences and what made them feel that way.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of the "dragonpreneur" and explain that it is someone who is both fierce and authentic in their business and personal lives.
• Discuss the importance of being authentic in the business world and the benefits of doing so.
• Provide examples of how being authentic can benefit both the business and the individual, such as by building trust and creating a unique identity.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in pairs to brainstorm ideas for how they could be more authentic in their own businesses, or how they can start their own business.
• Provide support and guidance as needed as students brainstorm.

Independent Practice

• Have students choose one idea from their brainstorm to implement in their own business (or start a new business, if they choose to do so).
• Encourage students to be creative and think outside the box as they implement their chosen idea.

Closure

• Have students share their experiences and challenges they faced while implementing their chosen idea.
• Discuss the importance of being authentic and how it can help us achieve our goals.

Assessment

• Observe students during the small group and individual presentations to assess their ability to be authentic and present their ideas effectively.
• Evaluate students' business plans and presentations for creativity, effectiveness, and overall success.
