Topic: King Tut and the Pharaohs

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to understand the mystery behind the death of King Tutankhaman and the role of Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt.

Materials

• Projector and screen
• PowerPoint presentation with images and information about King Tut and the Pharaohs
• Handouts with additional information and activities
• Colored pencils or markers for the projects

Warm-up

• Ask students to raise their hand if they have heard of King Tut and Pharaohs.
• Ask them to tell the class what they know about these two.
• Review the meaning of Pharaoh and the role of these rulers in Ancient Egypt.

Direct Instruction

• Show the students pictures and videos of King Tut and his treasures.
• Discuss the mystery behind his death and what scientists have discovered about him so far.
• Use the list of facts or points to guide the discussion.
• Use visual aids such as pictures and videos to engage the students.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups.
• Give each group a handout with questions about King Tut.
• Have the students work together to discuss the questions and come up with answers.
• Have a volunteer from each group share their answers with the class.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a sheet of paper and a pencil.
• Ask the students to draw a picture of King Tut and write a few sentences about him.

Closure

• Show the students the Discovery Channel documentary on King Tut.
