Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to define gender based violence and provide examples of different forms of gender based violence.

Materials

• Handout defining gender based violence
• Examples of different forms of gender based violence (e.g. sexual violence, domestic violence, harassment)

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever heard of the term "gender based violence."
• Ask for a few students to give brief definitions of gender based violence.

Direct Instruction

• Review the handout with students, discussing the different types of gender based violence and their definitions.
• Highlight the prevalence of gender based violence in society, and the importance of addressing it.

Guided Practice

• Divide students into small groups, and have them work together to create a poster that raises awareness about gender based violence.
• Have students use the provided materials to create their posters, and provide guidance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students present their posters to the class, and discuss the messages they are trying to convey.

Closure

• Ask students to share one thing they learned about gender based violence during the lesson.

Assessment

• Observe students during the group activity to assess their understanding of the topic.
• Collect and grade the reports as a form of assessment.
