Topic: tools of chemistery

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to list and describe the various tools used in chemistry.

Materials

• List of tools (provided by the teacher)
• Examples of each tool (provided by the teacher or brought in by students)
• Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever heard of chemistry tools.
• Ask them to raise their hands if they have ever used any of the tools before.
• Ask them to share their experiences with the class.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of chemistry tools and explain how they are used in chemistry.
• Show the students some examples of the different types of tools and demonstrate how to use them.
• Explain the importance of using the tools correctly and safely.

Guided Practice

• Have the students work in pairs and give each pair a set of chemistry tools.
• Have the students practice using the tools and showing their classmates how to use them.
• Monitor the students as they are using the tools and provide assistance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have the students work in groups and create a short skit or demonstration to show the classroom the proper use of the chemistry tools.
• Have the students present their skit or demonstration to the class.

Closure

• Review the objectives and main points of the lesson.
• Ask the students to share their favorite part of the lesson and why.
• End the lesson by reminding the students to always practice safe chemistry and to always ask an adult for help if they have questions.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice to see if they are following the safety rules and making accurate measurements.
• Collect and grade the students' lab reports to assess their understanding of the concept of relative dating and their ability to apply it in a real-world context.
