Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Textbook on biology
• Handouts with example scenarios demonstrating the importance of biology
• Reproducible worksheets for students to complete throughout the lesson

Warm-up

• Ask students what they already know about biology. Write their answers on the board.
• Discuss the common misconceptions and correct any errors in their understanding.
• Give a brief overview of what biology is and what it involves.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the broad topics that will be covered in the unit:
• Organization and function of cells
• Organization and function of tissues
• Organization and function of organs
• Organization and function of the human body
• Discuss the importance of these topics in maintaining healthy body function.
