Topic: Enhancing Speaking Skills

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to describe the picture in detail and use appropriate vocabulary.
• Students will be able to actively participate in role play activities.

Materials

• Picture cards
• Role play cards
• Pencils

Warm-up

• Ask the students to look at the picture card and describe what they see in detail. Encourage them to use descriptive words and adjectives.
• Ask the students to take turns role playing different roles in a given situation.

Direct Instruction

• Explain the importance of speaking skills and how they can be improved through active listening, describing, and role playing.
• Demonstrate how to describe a picture and participate in role play activities.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into pairs and give each pair a picture to describe.
• Have the pairs practice describing the picture and then role playing as the characters in the picture.
• Have the pairs share their descriptions and role plays with the class.

Independent Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and give each group a set of pictures to describe and role play.
• Have the groups practice describing the pictures and then role playing as the characters in the picture.
• Have the groups share their descriptions and role plays with the class.

Closure

• Review the importance of speaking clearly and using proper grammar when giving a presentation.
• Encourage the students to practice their speaking skills outside of class.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the group and independent practice activities to assess their understanding of the material.
• Collect the students' presentations and assess their use of proper grammar and pronunciation.
