Free 10th Grade Hacking And Artificial Intelligence Lesson Plan

Topic: Hacking and Artificial Intelligence

Objective & Outcome

  • Students will be able to identify scenarios in which hacking is acceptable using artificial intelligence

Materials

  • Computers with internet access
  • Artificial intelligence examples (video, article, etc.)

Warm-up

  • Ask students to brainstorm a list of situations in which hacking is acceptable. Write their responses on the board.
  • Discuss the responses as a class and clarify any misconceptions.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of hacking and explain that it is the unauthorized access to a computer system or network.
  • Discuss the dangers of hacking, including potential data loss or theft, identity theft, and disruption of services.
  • Introduce the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and explain that it is the ability of a computer or machine to exhibit intelligent behavior, such as decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Discuss the potential benefits of using AI, such as improved efficiency, accuracy, and automated tasks.
  • Discuss the ethical issues associated with hacking and AI, including potential harm to individuals and businesses, violation of privacy, and potential for abuse of power.

Guided Practice

  • Provide students with a scenario in which a company's AI detects a security breach and initiates a shutdown of the company's computer systems to prevent further damage.
  • Ask students to discuss the ethical concerns associated with this scenario and how they might be addressed.
  • Have students work in small groups to create a brochure that explains the dangers of hacking and AI and provides guidance on how to avoid these dangers.

Independent Practice

  • Ask students to choose a real-world company that uses AI and research how the company uses its AI.
  • Have students create a brochure that explains the ways in which the company's AI is used and the ethical concerns associated with its use.

Closure

  • Review the key points of the lesson and have students share their brochures with the class.
  • Ask students to consider the importance of ethics in AI and how their views on the subject have changed since the beginning of the lesson.Additional Resources
