Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify and describe the five main network topologies and their characteristics.

Materials

  • Diagrams of the five main network topologies (LAN, WAN, star, mesh, and ring)
  • Note cards and markers for each student

Warm-up

  • Ask students to brainstorm a list of words or phrases that describe different types of networks. Write their answers on the board.
  • Review the list of terms with the class and ask for explanations of their meanings.
